@#$^@%#$^@$%#^
DEAR LORD! I am doing an ICS lab in which I must optimize a program to make it run faster. So the story goes that I make a huge optimization that makes my program run 3 times faster than the original. My friend Sean does another optimization that makes it run 3.9 times faster. He helps me and I do his optimization...my program, looking EXACTLY like his now runs only 2.5 times faster........I hate my life. Every optimization I make runs SLOWER that it did before.

Summer
Well, summer is coming up, and we all know what that means: summer jobs. I am trying to get a job at the college in the physics department. A couple of other engineering majors are trying to get similar jobs and we are hoping to share an apartment. But what happens when you get 3 engineering students stuck in an apartment together over the summer? They plan on building a rail-gun.
What is a rail-gun you ask? Well, the general concept is that you run a couple thousand amps of current through some copper rails and the induced magnetic field fires a conducting ferromagnetic projectile. We are also hoping this can count as our senior projects. However, as I am not a physics engineering major, but actually a computer engineering major, building something mechanical won't count for my project. So I am hoping to build a guidance system for it, so it will hit a target without us having to physically point it at the object. Hehehe.
I already have the capacitors we would use picked out. It has a peak current of 2200 Amps. Just for reference, the wall outlet in your house carries a current of 20 Amps. We plan on using a bunch of these (possibly 10+).

Running
I am in dire need of exercise, so I ran a mile today and yesterday. Hopefully I can keep this up and regain my previous physical health. But MAN did I forget how hard it is to motivate myself to run.
One more thing: just in case you forgot, the word is NUCLEAR, not NUCULAR.

More vacation
Going to see the London Symphony Orchestra today! Culture FTW!!!
Lets see, a recap of my thoughts on the last few days:
-Saw the National Archives and the Declaration of Independence along with the Constitution.
-Washington monument can be seen from just about anywhere in D.C.
-People in Washington worship George Washington as if he were a god.
-Found out you can actually use the Library of Congress no matter who you are. Should have known this one, but you learn something new every day.
-The changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier doesn't really make sense. It happens ever half hour, and is pretty long. Would make more sense to have it every hour or something longer like that.
-EVERYONE in D.C. has an ipod...its ridiculous.
-Also, everyone and their mother runs for exercise.
Back to school on monday...yay.

Little Red Riding Hood
This is what would have come out if an engineer had written "Little Red Riding Hood".
Picture bomb exploded!
Some pictures I took today:
There was a group protesting outside the capitol building...about not circumcising babies. Apparently its torture and not yours (as a parent) to mess with. The previous sentence was off of their signs. I am o.k. with people feeling strongly enough about something to try and make a difference; but seriously people, couldn't you find something more meaningful to complain about? Like world hunger, proper schooling, or anything other than something that is actually beneficial to males?
